Nobody has messed with anything, EASA has produced a single licence format for all licences. Perhaps the onus is on the licence holder to point at the relevant page of legislation so that the uninformed can catch up.
Well I think it is stupid to have such a format that a reasonably competent person can't work it out for themselves. I deal with all this stuff on a daily basis but very few holders have read up. If it wasn't for the great work of the team at On track I would be unsure too. Most people checking documents are looking for evidence of :
1) Valid licence
2) Valid medical
3) Valid class rating
Why make their job difficult?
I accept that people should get up to speed on the changes but in reality this takes years.
