I don't want to start talking trains because I'll incur the wrath of
tophat27dt but, if you're going to fly people from SEN to UK destinations, then the west side of the country makes more sense to me. If you're retired and bored try travelling in the peak from South Essex to cities served from Kings X, then try Euston. You'll find a significant difference.
