If he moves end of this year I reckon Sir Nick Carter will become the next CDS, he's currently the most senior individual service chief and while I appreciate the simplicity of my argument, I think its the most likely outcome.

On the basis Nick Carter is loathed by quite a lot of the Army, and hasn't made good on many of his promises, I doubt he'd be a shoo-in.
