I just can't see the logic in this- both airlines are doing poorly with different business models. These routes are not a gold mine and unless you could remove the competition long term why would you try? Plus operating in some of the most inhospitable areas in the world.

Flybe need to examine every route and cut out those which are not profitable.

Eastern need to have a stable work force and operate niche routes which can support a high yield.
