Would have thought the only considerations are who has the most suitable airframe and is that airframe more profitably deployed here or elsewhere.
Assuming the route is sufficiently profitable, who actually operates it surely isn't that relevant to either company.

Why would a BA 788 be a better choice than an AA 788?
