If nothing else, the BBC long wave transmitter at Droitwich will get you to within about 60 miles of Whitchurch. This was the radio service used to transmit hidden messages to spies etc across Europe, mixed in with normal programmes. A middle of the night departure from Lisbon, turning east from close to the Irish coast at sunrise, would be reasonable.
