My real point was all the talk of equipment is just semantics, who cares if they use piper warriors. Just be thankful they're going to operate it. If they decide in the future or before that actually takes place not to operate it then maybe that'll be a discussion point for that time, but right now as far as we're all concerned the route is going ahead.
I'm sorry, but they are not "operating it next year" they have made a statement saying they are going to.

If you look back into not too ancient history Qatar has previous in this regards, notably through BHX where they "announced" the service at least once, but it didn't happen; Gulf Air did similar, again at BHX, amid much fanfair - but it never happened.

An airline / airport / government (delete which not applicable) can make as many PR announcements as they like, but until they announce a schedule, with a start date, and put the route on sale you absolutely cannot say it's happening.

All that said, I hope very much that firstly it does happen, for heaven's sake Wales and other areas of the UK need more international direct connectivity, and second, that is is a successful operation. If it proves to be it will be a boon to the Welsh economy.

All I have said, and I'll repeat myself, is that nobody, not even the airport management, should count their chickens until they are hatched.
