The United States has never been bothered if I also held another passport.
Just so long as they get their taxes, which being a US citizen you are always beholden too.
If I drove it on a US driving license, then the vehicle would also have to be US registered and sent over. It would be a 'hooker' left hand drive.
I did see several US registered vehicles on e-Bay.co.uk that would be ideal. But you always run into the tax man knowing when and where it was imported.
The price of used motorhomes in the UK seem very reasonable. I'd tie a Honda C90 on the back, and away we go.
But some US states would require a visual inspection of the VIN numbers when I registered in in my name, and an emissions test each year. I would not plan on ever sending it back.
The UK tax man would also cometh, saying it had been in the country over six months, and "where's my VAT?", and "you'll have to pay VAT, on the VAT"
What I wanted to do, was just turn up and buy something in the UK and not bother with importation. All it does is draw attention too myself. I could use a friends address in the UK for the vehicle and driving license.
But maybe after six months of living like Romany Jones or Gypsy Rosy Lea I may tire of it, and want a break anyway.
I like to fly under the radar.
Catch me, if you can.
