In 1981 the World Gliding Championships were held at Paderborn. Evidence of rounding waypoints was by photography, and the organisers wanted good, consistent air to ground pictures of all their chosen points. RAFG offered to provide these free, and did so; they also included a small number of extra water features in the Ruhr. These were added to the official list (Germans do have a sense of humour).
Appropriately, an RAF Phantom pilot in his day job was World Champion.
