one MIGHT pull ONE engine back to idle in order to improve SFC
I cannot remember a version of the 330 with fuel flow meters so you will have no idea whether your using more fuel with one pulled back or not. You would have to shut it down to be sure.
The Turmo IIIC was designed as a railway traction unit. Constant fuel consumption/variable noise seemed to be it's main criteria.
