I had a peruse of Annex 1 as suggested. The part you pasted confirms what I had been told about the 10 hours, however nowhere in Annex 1 did I read that the additional 10 hours could or could not be used towards hours on an additional type rating.
If anyone believes this is not the case I would be very appreciative to understand why.
