Thumbs up Unique Retirement flight of SAA "Lebombo"

Well wish I was there ... I remember the "grand lady of the sky" from the day it landed many moons ago ...

SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS MUSEUM SOCIETY : CLASSIC FLIGHT B747-244

The South African Airways Museum Society is offering a unique opportunity to fly on a Sunset Cruise aboard their Boeing 747-244, ZS-SAN, "Lebombo".

This soon to be retired venerable airliner of the skies will carry you on a scenic flight over the Hartbeespoort Dam, Sun City, Pretoria and Johannesburg. Departure will be late afternoon enabling you to savour a Highveld sunset and return after dark to the splendid view of twinkling city lights below.

Boeing 747-200's will soon be a thing of the past and this is a golden opportunity to fly on one of the few remaining in South African Airways service. Once retired in December 2003 the aircraft will be flown to Rand Airport, Germiston and put on static display. The SAA Museum Society will relocate its Museum to Rand Airport.

Funds raised from the flight will be used to improve the SAA Museum Society facilities and allow the organisation to continue it efforts in collecting and preserving South Africa's proud civil aviation heritage.
