Stobart paid Regional Airports Ltd 21 million and Southend Borough Council the princely sum of £1 for a 150 year lease.
One assumes, though, that the council were able to pass on all the costs for upkeep of the airport to Stobart. Probably not such a bad deal for the local ratepayer.
