Your correct the Canary Islands are part of the EU but still Spanish territory even if it's an autonomous region.
The reason why I made that mistake is because the Canary Islands have a different VAT than mainland Spain and I was putting the islands in the same way as Gibralter so I was assuming they were not in the EU but thank you for informing me as it will become very useful in my line of work where I have usually informed others that because the canaries are tax free like Gibralter that they were not in the EU.
