A typical (good day) flying into PEK/CAN/PVG would be like this: Getting your Arrival about 10NM before the first fix, then the next ATC will switch to a whole different procedure on you. You might get any of the 3 runways (and they wont tell you ahead of time). All the while, you are telling your FO to input that into your FMC, trying to level-down automation, coverting meters to feet, listening to heavy accented instructions, and depending on how comfortable is your FO's CRM, he might or might not point out deviations until its too late. Oh, and then there are the 550RVR approaches on manual land.

Thats all just a really really normal day. And you must understand that there is no "No Harm No Foul" policy. Everything, your fault or not, is your fault.

and those are just their A-team airports.
