Yes they could, although not all could post quite so eloquently as Tom has.

This individual is an intelligent man. He was given a high position within IT which empowered him, or so he thought, to run an efficient and productive department. What he discovered was a department anything but. A department riddled with corruption, nepotism and incompetence. It was a department overmanned by friends of friends from same villages in India providing a future for the chosen few. He uncovered a mafioso type organisation and his advice and input was no longer welcome, clearly threatening the cosy relationship of an old boys network in which favours cost money. This was an 'invitation only club', stuffed with self serving, egotistical sycophants, peddling their wares to ignorant senior management via complicated gobbledegook! He had integrity and honesty and did not conform to the same corrupt ideology and culture as those who's future he controlled. Because of this, he was fired.

And perhaps to prove the point about how inefficient and self serving this department really is, several months ago, MM (SVP training) asked a smart ground instructor if he could come up with a particular 'program' to assist in manpower issues. This individual, who works full time, came back within the month with a fully running program and the cost to implement such a scheme. MM then went to IT with the identical question. They took the same amount of time, not to offer the solution, but just to confirm that it was possible and that it would take between 3-6 months to deliver at a cost well over 1000% more than what had been quoted. When you deal with inefficiencies as dire as this, asking staff to make 'small but significant savings' elsewhere within the Group is simply pissing into wind!

Emirates Group IT, or EGIT, has to be the worst run department within this Company. It's probably not by coincidence that the Irish word for idiot, eejit, is pronounced the same way! Almost as ironic as the accommodation department who are generally anything BUT accommodating!
