Please do not fall for the Heathrow must be better for everything obsession that some have on here. Lima is very much a high end leisure destination which is perfect for London-Gatwick.
Lima is home to OneWorld parter LATAM Peru, meaning the flights will be used by many Europeans connecting to Peru via London, and South Americans connecting via Lima. Heathrow is a lot better equipped to feed into long haul services given BA's substantial European network, unlike Gatwick which focuses on point to point European leisure routes.
