FIE can check that the Fi has up to date knowledge rather than asking things an experienced instructor would obviously know, 'tell me the properties of a gyro?' yawn,
They should check you have upto date knowledge....but me thinks you're slightly missing the point with your yawns. It's not to check that you know the stuff yourself, but should be that you can explain it in an appropriate way... and (being harsh) as Whopity points out if you'd attended a seminar perhaps you'd understand the rules or changes yourself!
