Perhaps more concerning than the money for you guys should be the reason why the health insurance premiums are rising? The EK 'healthy lifestyle' producing yet more claims?
Not quite.
It is a case of a medical system that is completely false. Whenever an EK patient is sent outside of the EK clinic a host of completely irrelevant tests are completed and charged by the 'specialist' (inverted commas because many wouldn't hold jobs in their own country.) The moment they see an Emirates Health card they see a massive income stream that they know will be paid by EK. Subsequently EK starts having to pay huge bills for EK staff health coverage, and consequently raises the premium to staff.
Case in point, I recently had to visit a specialist. When I arrived the nurse told me to come through for X-rays, despite me having handed in the X-rays from the EK Dr when I arrived. I refused and said if you try and X-ray me again I will be walking out the door. When I went to sign the bill, they tried to include a charge for X-rays that they didn't take.
It is a case of the Dubai 'job creation' policy backfiring massively, and is costing EK millions in bs healthcare.
