I appreciate the pound has fallen and the price of aviation fuel risen, but United are showing a return fare of £1,236 for flexible economy on the same dates in June, so broadly in line with Delta & Virgin. Advanced 'non-flexible' economy is not available and yet the flights are wide open. Is this indicative of fares to the US for the summer or is there something special about the w/c 5 June. It might be the second week of school holidays for some but I'm still puzzled by the astronomical fares.
On TCX, the lowest return economy fare is given as £350 for those same dates. However, it is the Air Tanker a/c. Does it have premium economy because if it does, it's showing as sold out both ways.
Are VS/DL and UA trying to price themselves out of the market or am I missing something?
