BMI Regional to London Stansted begins March 26th. Reported by Julian O'Neill on Twitter

BFS BHD - good call, nice to get heads up!

Nice to see City of Derry Apt progress like any other commercial enterprise. I'm not convinced that bmir is the right fit. Positioned as a niche, high fares business airline, it is suggested that they are going to offer 26 flights on the route per week, that equates to 1300 seats per week, at a 65% load factor, that equates to 845 passengers in total per week. In contrast to 2646 (daily 738) per week on FR, at probably 90% load/ 2381. So passenger numbers will decline on the London corridor by 60-70%.

The result is a significant deterioration in airport revenue on all fronts. We knew FR were leaving, but a more positive development would have been BE bringing a London route and other UK points.

Just like the cash for ash scheme, the proposed eye watering subsidy to UA for staying on a BFS, Derry City Council pumping money into the Airport does not represent value for money for the taxpayer.

On the flip side, the hope would be that Loganair may see potential as part of same holdings company to add routes to LDY, like EDI, MAN etc.
