The large surface car park *can* be replaced, anything can, it's another question all together if there is desire to.
Given the old MAN policy of using apron to park cars (thankfully now gone), I suspect there would be a reluctance to replace said car park with apron space until every other option has been exhausted, and it would take a while to reach that point.
