FAA Type Rating Validity??

Hi,

So I got a question Back in the day, the Type Ratings did not have an expiration, hence I have a few Types on my FAA ATP that I have not used for 5-8+ Years. However I was told a couple of years back that the rules changed under FAA and if you have not done a recurrent on you type for more than 2 years you have to do a full initial again and that a recurrent training wont be enough.. I searched the Reg's and found nothing so I am just wondering if any of you smart guys know what is right and what is wrong.

Is it enough to just do a recurrent session on a Type-rating you have not used for several years OR do you in fact need to do a full initial again?

And just to add its to fly Part 91 not 135.

Thanks

Ya'll
