Virgin are not recruiting just at the moment, but we have taken on around 60 pilots in the last year or so. I believe that recruiting will begin again around the end of the year against predicted crew openings due to capacity expansion, but opportunities arise all the time.

It would do no harm to send your CV in, as long as you have at least 2500 hours, primarily commercial multi-jet. A similar hours total accrued in the military (fast jet, transports, heavy helos) is also acceptable, usually.

While you'll find a number of malcontents blowing off steam in T&E over the last year or two (particularly those unfortunates who were caught out by the post 9/11 cull, and for whom I have every sympathy), our conditions of service are better than most UK airlines. Virgin has just ratified a new pay structure which, while not in BA's league (despite press reports), is considerably better than we, or any other UK airline (with the possible exception of Britannia), had before.

And, as the papers reported over the weekend, we're looking for more aeroplanes - which means more jobs. Other than EZ/Ryan, there's no-one else actively expanding at the moment!
