Do I need a CII airplane written?
Pretty complicated question...
I have ATP/CFI/CFII helicopter, and a CPL airplane. I am about to do my instrument airplane add on, followed by my CFII airplane. I know this is backwards as almost everyone does their CFI first, but I found that doing the CFII as my initial is possible and it will also save me a chunk of change.
My question is do I need to take a CFII written? For IFR and CPL add-on I know I obviously do not require a written, but is there one required for the CFII?
It is my understanding that I will not have to take the FOI's again, but I will still have to take a written exam for the CFI and CFII airplane ratings.
Is this true? And can anyone back this up with the applicable regs?
Thanks!
