EDI is lucky to have a very balanced inbound and outbound market. Indeed, the inbound market is the strongest in the U.K outside of London therefore the detrimental effects of the current economic and political climate should be less pronounced here than at other regional airports.
I agree that a Chinese link is almost a certainty and it makes absolute sense given the above that this would go to EDI.
Personally, it's DY and their plans that excite me the most - oh and perhaps a regular A350 service from one of the ME operators...
If a Chinese link doesn't happen next year then it will almost certainly happen in 2018. Yes DY is exciting, it will be even more exciting if edinburgh gets West Coast routes and some Dreamliner. Etihad have ordered 40 a350s so maybe we'll see one of those at Edinburgh in the near future.
