I believe that I have flown with this gentleman. A fine Aviator.
Some years ago, I spent time at the 'giving' end of the CX training system. Pilots with Bush experience or similar, were always appreciated as being entirely practical. Of course there were the CX hurdles, but no big deal.
I accept that there are Richard Craniums in C&T, as well as the ranks. The percentage is fairly constant. Methinks therefore; a minority on here make a lot of static, and should consider which decile they populate.
