Council Van says my advice is incorrect.
At age 21 he has three children of his own and three step children.
Six children is an unbelievable responsibility to take on at such a young age.
I certainly couldn't have managed with even a girlfriend at that age.
I was strictly one night stands only, no strings, no commitments.
At 21 I was living at home having spent all my money on a CPL/IR and guess what! No job. I was dispatch riding around London, trying to save money.
At 25 I rented a room in an old ladies house whilst I built jet time. If it didn't fit in the back of my first car, I didn't own it.
At 26 I was dossing on a airline pilots couch trying to find work.
Just how do you do what's required to make it with six kids in tow?
I did not get married until I was 40 years old.
I did not have my last child until I was 50.
As the children age they will become more demanding of your time and money.
Unless he completely abandons them, I do not see how he can make it.
Having children is a change in life moment when you sacrifice your well being for theirs.
Now I don't know anybody more progressive than me in encouraging upward mobility in this profession.
But I do not encourage it at the expense of children's well being.
To that end.
What would be wrong in making his children successes over his personal goals.
Where were his goals when he was making babies?
Yes, it's very hard to make a living as a flight instructor. Impossible I'd say.
So, if he was a flight instructor with his own plane that he maintained.
Then he could make at least six children productive useful members of society.
If he selfishly pursues this career, then I fear for his children future.
The last thing I wanted to do was renew my flight instructor licenses.
The next to last thing I wanted to do was buy a Cessna 172.
The next last thing I wanted to do was spend six months and sixty large completely restoring the plane.
The next last thing I want to to is spend all my time that I'm not flying for a living, teaching my three children how to fly.
But this is what you do, when you have kids.
