Can't see many taking that offer personally. If you were one of the younger guys, you'd wouldn't want part time. So, you end up taking a package that's slightly better in remuneration terms but only if you don't have kids. With 2 or 3 kids, the EK package works out better. Remember, they're only promising BETWEEN 8-10 days off per month. What's the advantage?
So, the only carrot here is the month on, month off. That's likely to appeal to the older and more senior guys who want to step more gently into retirement. However, it would mean a substantial pay cut going to China Southern part time. Many guys around this age have older kids in 6th form or at Uni. Factor in no F class travel and it's not such a big carrot after all.
From a health perspective, maybe a part time contract would work, but I just can't see many people leaving EK and staying in Dubai to work for a Chinese carrier.
