South Terminal at Gatwick is much better located, for direct access to the train station and other facilities. The "Transit" to the peripheral North Terminal is one of those transport systems which can be quoted as having a 2 minute running time but which always seems to end up adding about a quarter of an hour each way to the process with all the extra walking and waiting. Half the times I have used it one of the two trains appears shut down, presumably to save the airport operator money.
