So with all this positivity new deiveries, bright schemes, expansion STN , BHX etc., then am I missing something..
to go down a well trodden path then JET2 continues to operate one of the largest fleets (26!) of ageing 733's, some over 30 years old, average age 26.2 years. In addition well over over 50% of contemporary frames have been scrapped or stored never to fly again.
Now I'm not questioning the quality of JET2's engineering maintenance & accept that the engines themselves are probably as old or young as those of any other operator, but there is something a little disturbing when one considers the amount of stress that these aircraft have suffered over such a long period.
It's clearly not a marketing point, & the glossy colours & bright interiors can hide quite a lot to the unassuming holiday maker.
The obvious conclusion with these new deliveries would be retirement of these old frames, but is this consistent with the forthcoming route expansion?
More tellingly how many of the new deliveries are to end up replacing old 733 routes at existing northern airports, or conversely allocated to STN / BHX ?
