The masterplan states that the plan is to have runway 12/30 closed. It is not very long nor well equipped, as far as I know it can't handle anything above an B737/A320. Even at that the lack of precision approaches makes it restricted particularly in terms of weather.
Besides, Gatwick handles in excess of 40m pax with a single runway, 12m nowhere near justifies it.
