Tobago don't get too fixated on all the ppl cpl theory stuff as a lot goes out the window once you get that first gig.

The main thing to remember is to keep it simple and stay calm.

10 mile markers - where is the wind roughly coming from? - what time did I leave?

Also you might get a groundspeed that does not quite equal 10 miles in 5 mins and not quite in 4 say 4.5! What do you do.. ? add 4.5 minutes to each 10 mile marker? No, just go 5,4,5,4,5,4 and so on get the pic. Obvious to some and not others (me).

Have many a tale of nearly getting very lost. Mainly because I did about 500hrs in a place that had no features in comparison to my training grounds. In addition, no navaids and yep you guessed it no GPS. Bad wx and min fuel thrown in for the fun of it too.

Tell you what mate I used to Sh!t myself and still would if I had to go back. After a while tho you learn the terrain like its your backyard and soon enough that terrible feeling goes away.

Plenty of Clearoff's should keep you out of trouble. And remember big features.
