I understand your point of view and that's why in a way we never (never say never right) use an augmented crew in our operations (so far).
On long trips from North America to Asia we schedule a technical stop (usually Anchorage when we do it westbound or somewhere in Europe eastbound) and a fresh crew takes over for the remainder of the flight.
T.C. might be changing things in regards to augmented crews and the allotted extension for a crew duty day and the type of "private space" offered onboard may well dictate how much of an extension you will be able to get.
I did hear some GEXs have custom made double bunk set ups which offer lie flat sleeping positions that are apparently pretty good but I have never seen one and talked to pilots that use them.
I'm sure the 7000 and would think the 8000 would have better set ups then the present generation GEXs.
