Everyone else has gone or is going 10 abreast on the B77W, BA would therefore be at a clear competitive disadvantage if they did not as there is no business case that people would pay enough of a premium to fly a 9-abreast BA product to make it worth keeping versus the competition.
The 10-abreast back in the late 20th century was long before the coming of new lightweight seats and so was remarkably inferior. It's the new norm as prices continue to remain low and if you want to experience proper service like we all remember in Economy of old, then we need to pony up for Premium Economy and pay the market rate.
