I'm not a CX pilot but that doesn't matter because I'm a Boeing driver and am really only interested in the max crosswind for autoland that this article raises. Now, I've never flown the 777 and that might be where the difference lies but I have flown the 737/47/57/67 and in all of those AOMs there was never a distinction made between LVO max crosswind and non-LVO. My manuals always simply state(d) that 25 kts is the max allowable crosswind for an autoland. I have seen artificially lower limits imposed by a company in the Operations Manual but the actual aircraft limit was still 25 kts according to Boeing.
For 3Greens, these limits were observed in BA on all the aircraft above so, unless it's a recent change, I don't think it was company specific because the three airlines I've flown for all had the same limitations.
Could it be a 777 thing? Are the CX 747 limits just a straight 25 kts, LVO or not?
