I'd suggest one of the more important traits of a good commander is that of humility. While everyone likes lessons learned and confidence is important honking ones own horn to me indicates a certain lack of experience. The gods of aviation are fickle and it is good to be blessed with humbling experiences early along the way such that one realizes one can go from hero to zero pretty quickly in this business.

It would be nice to see a wee bit less of the drama queen quality in some of the there I was writeups in general. If one is talking about hotels, traffic, ILSs, dmes, and autolands it just doesn't seem that worthy of drama compared to fires, getting shot at, holes in the airplane, large fuel leaks, etc.
