Okay, so let me try and summarise the thrust of this whole thread.
I doubt whether anyone has any issue with the way this flight was handled bar the phone calls to various people which enevitably turn out to be a waste of time as anyone who has ever called IOC will attest to..... remember that they thought the 777 that diverted to Shemya had landed in Sanya.
Now, if you had flown from LHR to HKG, had suffered an engine fire near sierra and it hadn't gone out and then the other one failed overhead TD and you deadsticked it to 25L in the middle of a raging typhoon I would want a 10,000 word essay on the event, hell, I would want a movie made starring me!
But unfortunately it was a pretty bog standard flight to HK but with a narrative more fitting of a Space Shuttle launch which I think had the boys riled up.
Now, if that description of events was written for private consumption, fair enough, but I would be on the blower to the fleet office asking that it be removed from the monthly bulletin as it was making the author sound like a bit of a ******.
