I was at boarding school at Stamford. We were allowed to watch it and could hear the aircraft taking off from Wittering as we watched live.
Lived in Southorpe, about a mile to east of Wittering at the time. Remember watching various aircraft over flying the house and seeing them a few minutes later on TV. Almost remember watching a Nimrod leaving later that night, heading north.
