The weather was raining and overcast with a surface temperature of 7 Celsius at the time of departure. The CYLW 140500Z METAR also remarked the barometric pressure was falling rapidly.
The aircraft was a privately owned Cessna Citation 500, built in 1974, i.e. 42 years old. No information on air-frame time or number of cycles. Pilot was a quiet, professional ex-RCMP guy..
The ICAO aerodrome location identifier for Springbank is CYBW, not CYWB as prevously posted..
