In the UK the government is subject to the rule of law like everyone else. In the case of R3, there are very good practical, financial and legal arguments why it is undeliverable, unaffordable and unlawful in its present format.
The exec of LHR's transparent attempts to paper over the cracks of their case for expansion and hijack this public debate (see for example the buying of Scotish support by exploiting the Batnett formula) is probably going to lead to their downfall. It also further increases the already obscene burden in Mr and Mrs UK taxpayer.
If Parliament are unwilling to scrutinise the evidence and take a justifiable decision (of whatever kind) the judiciary will make them start the whole process again (airport commission and all). All at the expense of Mr and Mrs UK taxpayer.
Regretfully for Pprune, the MODs inability to justify their own actions has also led to some its more informed posters choosing to discuss their views elsewhere. They will probay not be the last.
