Just as a BTW, credible information had come to light regarding Amy Johnson's ultimate fate while on ATA duties over the Thames estuary.
It involves the attempted rescue by the RN which, putting it mildly, didn't go too well.
So near, and yet so far. (expletive deleted).
Very, very sad.

If somebody can provide a link to that report, (I'm not myself able to at the moment), while off-topic, it would be of interest to many - both here and on AH&N.
