Approaching Manchester
Much depends on the runway in use but more particularly the number of other inbound planes to Manchester at the same time. Assuming 23L is in use for landing, planes from Amsterdam may be given an early turn to the left for an approach into MAN. However, more often other traffic is approaching either also from the East or the north, South or West in which case a plane from Amsterdam has to fly to Rosun from where it will be given a radar heading for making an approach hence the longer flight.
