The easier it is to get to Derry airport, the better it can compete with BFS.
For now, I am sure the London Stansted route will reappear from BFS in not too long.
Meanwhile, please headhunt the Knock airport management and bring them to Derry!!!
Referring to 'third' world infrastructure is symptomatic of the grand delusion NI folk seem to have about our status in the world. We ARE a poor country that is lumped in a Union which is camoflaging our real status. A touch of realism is needed for the country as a whole. NI does not need 3 airports and at some point in time the leadership have to grasp the nettle. The fact that Derry is being funded is purely to please the shinners and the fact that BFS has to get funding to keep a US service running should show you how unattractive we are as a proposition. We have a limited appeal that should be coordinated properly into a one airport strategy. Nothing else makes sense.
