FTE actually run a very good modular course which I think most people aren't aware off. If you can't afford the integrated course you could try what CouncilVan suggested and ask if you could put the £5k towards the modular route.
I'm not in the business of defending flight schools but, for what it's worth, commercial aviation is a relatively small community and FTE is one of the 'big three' in Europe so I'd advise you not to burn your bridges too quickly!
