Coming in at around 205T, Granite Galley and First generation suites (which are about a ton each)
In comparison they're around 5-8 ton more than the equivalent in the fleet.
I heard the 8 suites were closer to 2,000kgs EACH!!!!
Another penny wise, pound foolish decision. When they re-configured the fleet to 3-4-3 in Y, they chose not to remove the suites, to save money. Of course nobody took into account the weight of those suites being flown around for the past few years.
Furthermore, whoever selected the MTOW from the Boeing -300ER order guide, sure did the airline another HUGE favor by going with a 337t MTOW....making them real attractive to the used the market, now that they have put them up for sale...
Only Aeroflot did better with a 313t MTOW
