It does seem incongruent. It doesn't say if it's £1000 return or one way, I'd assume baggage / sports equipment is included for that kind of money.
There are quite a few wealthy individuals with their own properties in Spain and Portugal, the more "exotic" destinations in North Africa and the East Med have fallen out of favour, so you never know. BA have done unexpectedly well to the med out of LCY with their Embraer jets - apparently with heavy club loads. It's not very comparable in terms of equipment or market but the closest I can think of.
