How competitive is the market in Manchester? Jet2 seem to be doing OK there and loads have been fantastic all Summer hence the use of the standby 75 on some 73 routes next summer and the arrival of the leased 330's.

This is not a move of desperation, they did not buy those aircraft and suddenly think what are we going to do with them? Expansion was the intention so they brought the tools to do the job. With 60 frames already jet2 are not a little company from up North. They will have done their home work, their market research will have shown that this move will work.

If you sit still then you just stagnate. Expansion will help to improve buying power and negotiate better prices across the whole business, from the cost of hotel rooms, airport services possibbly even helping to get a reduction in the price of fuel.

Package Holiday choice from Stansted has never been fantastic. The size of the market in North and East London, Essex etc is massive with Luton being the main charter departure airport plenty of people will be happy to travel from Stansted instead. Road connections are very good and the train service from London and the North is excellent. The Stansted express is quick and reasonably priced. (Unlike the cross country train service from the Midlands)

A good move for a progressive and dynamic company. Will Jet2 become the South's favourite airline?
