Income Protection

Having chatted with a colleague I realise that I'm very much unprotected should my medical become suspended and I be unfit to fly. So I'm looking into options.

I get full sick pay for six month, then half pay for six months then SSP. I have LoL cover but having looked into it there is very little chance of the CAA ever revoking a medical, rather suspending it indefinitely and theres a good chance the LoL won't pay out, as technically I haven't 'lost' anything, rather it has been suspended.

I have heard of APPN, a French society providing income protection for pilots but their website is right out of 1996 and it gives very little away. I'm also concerned of the Brexit affecting the cover.

I have looked on some comparison websites for 'own occupation' cover. I found a policy but the issue is that the occupations listed were 'aviation pilot', 'commercial pilots' and 'pilots'. Which one of these would cover an active airline pilot?

Any words of wisdom? Or should I be speaking to a financial advisor? ;-)
