Roster Disruption continues at J2 unabated

For anybody thinking of joining us, think very carefully before you decide. There are many more much 'Pilot Friendlier' airlines out there.

Roster disruption is endemic at Jet2. It always has been and it looks as though it always will be. The company says it's the same with other companies , maybe so but not to the extent it is at J2.

Asking around at the moment as to why people are leaving and the most popular answers are, Roster Stability and the managements ludicrous decision recently to make all simulator stand in duties assessable.

Previously, simulator stand in duties were viewed as valuable extra simulator exposure in between your own LPC/OPC which would be rostered twice a year. I gather with some other companies, simulator stand in is voluntary and you are actually asked if you would be prepared to stand in.
Not at J2, somebody who is rostered for simulator stand in, is in as much jeopardy as the person on check. Some people are getting 2 or 3 stand ins per month. It is particularly stressful for Senior F/Os who , getting near to command previously needed to work towards good sim grades twice a year. Now they have a potential 'Career buster' maybe 2 or 3 times a month !

It's becoming such a sensitive issue that crewing are keeping sim stand ins from the rosters and calling you from home standby at the very last minute to cut down on 'sickness'
